 Xuchang Ketop Electrical Apparatus Testing & Research Institute (Originally called as Xuchang Relay Research Institute of Mechanical Industry) is an enterprise owned by the whole people, whose competent authority is Xuchang Municipal Commission of Industry and Information Technology. Its predecessor was Acheng Relay Research Laboratory under China First Ministry of Mechanical Industry, which was founded in 1958 and moved to Xuchang, Henan Province in 1971. After many years of development, it has become a specialized research institute of electrical automation industry and power system relay protection in mechanical industry, and a third-party organization that roots in power system and provides high-quality service for all customers related to intelligent electrical appliance industry field.

•  In 1958, Acheng Relay Research Laboratory under The First Ministry of Mechanical Industry was founded.
•  In 1971, Xuchang Relay Research Institute was established. 
•  In 1973, Dynamic Modeling Test Laboratory invested by the State was built.
•  In 1984, National Center for Quality Supervision and Testing of Relay was set up.
•  In 1998, The first Real-Time Digital Simulation Laboratory in China was set up.
•  In 2003, Protocol Testing & Research Laboratory was established.
•  In 2005, 3 m Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Laboratory was set up.
•  In 2007, the institute was renamed National Center for Quality Supervision and Testing of Relay Protection and Automation Equipment
•  In 2008, UHV Engineering Testing & Research Center was built.
•  In 2009, the institute was renamed Xuchang Smart Grid Equipment Testing & Research Institute.
•  In 2012, National Center for Quality Supervision and Testing of Smart Micro-grid Control Equipment & System was set up.
•  In 2013, the Institute was renamed Xuchang Ketop Electrical Apparatus Testing & Research Institute.
